Gin Rummy
The Opening Tournament will take place at the Gin Rummy Palace exclusively. If you aren’t familiar with Gin Rummy yet, we have a quick refresher for you:
Gin Rummy is a fast-paced two-player competition: You draw and arrange cards covertly while shedding redundant cards underway. What matches? Which cards are the key to your victory? […] Handcards that don’t fit any melds are called deadwood. If these cards‘ total value is lower than 10 points, you may knock and, thus, end the round. But not so fast: If your opponent has fewer deadwood points than you, the tables turn, and they win! Will you find the right time to knock?

Go ahead and use the time until the Opening Tournament to practice the game at the Gin Rummy Palace. You can find all the important info in the game’s tutorial and help section. Additionally, you can find the Gin Rummy Rules, scoring conventions, and detailed Gin Rummy Lessons on different aspects of the game in our Gin Rummy School. Have fun exploring!
The Tournament Rules in Gin Rummy
In Gin Rummy, the tournaments run as follows:
- There are multiple series. In the first series, the tables are drawn by lot.
- For each subsequent series, you will be sorted according to your ranking up to that point and then grouped according to the list.
- At the end of the tournament, the player who won the most series wins! In case of a draw, the tiebreaker is the largest difference in points compared to the opponents in the tournament.
In this Opening Tournament, you are going to play 5 series.
200 players can play per group. When the maximum of players is exceeded, the next group will open automatically. This way, everyone can partake for a bet of merely one Chip! Of course, you will face tenacious opponents. But if you come out on top, appreciation and exclusive prizes await you.
You can find more information on the tournaments at the Palace here.

Great Prizes
There will be exclusive Palace of Cards certificates and the jackpot with up to 100,000 Chips! We lovingly design the certificates exclusively for this occasion! All winners of the places 1 to 3 receive one as a PDF. And for the places 1 to 10, there is plenty of Premium time to be won!
There is the possibility of several players coming in at the same place per game. This can come up due to several play groups per tournament on the one hand and due to double placements based on players reaching a draw in the same group on the other.
Here is an example: If 540 players registered, we would split the tournament into three groups with a maximum of 200 players each. As a result, there would be three 1st places, three 2nd places, and three 3rd places.
Each play group has its separate jackpot. We will note in your certificate in which play group you were successful. The jackpot and the Premium days will be split among the winners per group. The 1st place receives 70% of the Chips in the pot, 1 Premium Year, and a certificate; the 2nd place 20%, 180 Premium Days, and a certificate; the 3rd place 10%, 90 Premium Days, and a certificate. This time, the 4th to 10th places additionally get 30 Premium Days each!
If double placements occur, the distribution of prizes can change slightly. This is always clearly communicated in our update post on the winners.
We’ll See You!
